About Us
The women who started The Welcome Club of Erie first came together as a chapter of the Welcome Wagon, a group dedicated to welcoming women who were new to town. They ended their affiliation with this national organization in the early 1990's, however. Those founding members of The Welcome Club of Erie had a desire to continue developing the friendships that had formed through the Welcome Wagon, rather than having to move on after they were no longer considered "newcomers."
They also wanted to focus on individual interests, by expanding monthly activity groups. Erie Country, PA and beyond has so many wonderful community assets and opportunities for learning and exploring and dining. Therefore, The Welcome Club of Erie was established, with the goal to promote the following ideals:
* To provide a warm, welcoming environment that will develop friendships among residents in and around Erie County and help them become familiar with their community.
* To take an active interest in the civic, social and moral welfare of the community.
* To promote and encourage good citizenship, as well as good government.
* To aid our country and community through the gift of our energy and time for worthy purposes. The club shall undertake and complete one or more local charitable, humanitarian or social welfare project(s) each year.
In other words, Bloom Where You Are Planted!!
